About Greg
My name is Greg Preston and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor/LCMHC. I have a B.A. In Psychology, and an M.A. In Counseling and I have been working with individuals since 1995. I believe that our relationships are key to our happiness and well-being, and that there is much we can do to enhance them, seek healthy connections and lead more peaceful, productive and fulfilling lives. Some of the areas I treat are stress management, anger management, relationship help, addictions, and OCD.
My mission is to inspire clients to grow personally and emotionally. Everyone has the right to be happy. Addressing your concerns through therapy can help. At Preston Counseling, I believe that therapy is a collaborative effort between the individuals and the therapist. Change is possible with understanding and empathy, and the right tools. When a client is an active participant in his or her treatment, and is committed to applying the knowledge gained through their therapy session to life, positive and powerful changes can happen.
The power to make positive changes is within us all. My intention is to provide a confidential, professional and supportive environment in which individuals and families can identify problem areas, explore what prevents the problem from being solved, and help you develop and learn skills that can enhance your quality of life.
My goal is to help you experience positive change as quickly as possible while respecting the complexity of your situation. I want you to feel comfortable with me and to trust that I will understand you and your needs. I will offer a truthful perspective on your situation. There ARE solutions.
A good rapport with your therapist is critical. I will begin by truly listening to you. From there you will see that my style is fairly active and open. Your experience with me will be professional, yet relaxed and informal. You can expect an objective, non-judgmental, and compassionate atmosphere that allows you to safely resolve your current struggles and make desired changes in your life.
“You don’t have to be crazy to be in counseling, you just have to want to better yourself. Through the help of Preston Counseling, I was able to sort through some messy psychological conflicts and learn to deal with people and my emotions better.” ~Rick G.
“I had the best experience at Preston Counseling. I have seen several other counselors over the years, and Mr. Preston was the most approachable, down to earth, and open minded. He took the time to listen, care and provide honest feedback. Preston Counseling is highly recommended in my book. Very professional and highly trained.” ~George P.
“Counseling is easier than I thought it would be. Mr. Preston is laid back, open minded, and non-judgmental. I went in for one thing and ended learning a lot about myself. Counseling helped me realize more of my full potential. I am now more successful, happier, and have a better relationship.” ~Leslie
“Greg Preston was very helpful and professional. He helped me see different perspectives and scenarios. Also, I was taught more effective coping and communications skills. Counseling was a positive and enjoyable experience.” ~Paul
Our Values
At Preston Counseling, I believe that everyone deserves to live a remarkable life! You are the priority, and I am committed to helping you discover the joy and satisfaction that awaits you. Whether you are suffering from the effects of a life change, a traumatic event, confusion in relationships, or simply want to learn how to move through life with greater ease and confidence, I provide a safe, accepting, and effective therapeutic environment. I am attentive to your desires, and I will guide you toward becoming your best self.
Creating a space where people feel supported and understood is what I strive for in the therapy setting. I will work collaboratively with you in an honest and compassionate way to help facilitate the change and growth you desire by creating a toolbox of skills that allow you to understand yourself better.
I am encouraged by the resilience of the human spirit. We have an incredible ability to heal and make meaning out of our lives. Within a comfortable therapeutic relationship that is built on trust, the power of telling one’s story is transformative and can provide the fuel for making courageous life changes.
All matters that bring us to counseling inevitably result in dissatisfying relationships. We often believe things about ourselves which aren’t true. Errors in thinking can make us feel bad about ourselves and those in our lives. This may exacerbate depression, anxiety and our overall negative sense of self. Challenging these thoughts can give us new perspectives to help bring rapid change in how we feel.
I work to address both the problem that brings you to counseling and the inevitable relational strain. We will work together to help you find relief from emotional and relational pain and dissatisfaction, and we will work to give you hope for a more meaningful and satisfying life.
